The blade of your husk is perhaps the most important part of the instrument. Without the saw blade you wouldn’t have been able to saw at all with a cam saw! Sometimes the time has come to replace the saw blade. Maybe the saw blade has broken, or maybe you just want to use another saw blade for a separate project. Whatever happens, you will understand that this is not a difficult task and that it can be carried out without the special attention of specialists.
How do I know when it’s time to replace a defective sheet? If you find unnecessary burns or splinters in the material, this indicates that the mitre saw blade needs to be replaced. You can inspect the guide bar yourself and usually confirm this suspicion if you see bent or curved teeth on the guide bar or missing or crumbled parts along the guide bar.
The saw blade can be replaced with a few tools that are included in most do-it-yourself toolboxes. It will only take a few minutes to complete this task. For the steps to follow, please refer to the User’s Manual, although most processes are quite similar. Some bandsaw models are unique, and the steps for changing the saw blades can also be unique. The usual steps for changing the saw blade are listed below:
- Step 1: Knife protection removal .
The first thing you need to do before changing the saw blade is remove the saw blade protector. However, the power supply must be cut off before the blade protector becomes a mess. This means that you need to unplug the power cord or remove the battery from the device.
Normally, the blade protector is held in place by a screw. You should be able to unscrew it to completely remove the blade protector.
- Step 2: Blade lock
After removing the blade protector, the next step is to secure the blade. The mitre saw is equipped with a spindle lock, which is located behind or in front of the housing. He’s usually black. Find this function and press to lock the blade. Make sure that the spindle lock is securely fastened. If you lock it properly, the lock will slide in.
- Step 3: Sheet removal
Now it’s time to put the knife down. The saw is connected to the saw by a bolt which must be loosened. You will need an Allen wrench to turn the knife clockwise and loosen it. Use your finger to remove the blade’s outer ring. Do not touch the inner ring of the knife.
Carefully remove the saw blade from the saw and try not to touch your teeth. If you feel more comfortable, wear a pair of work gloves before touching the knife.
- Step 4: Replacement knife
The last step is to change the blade. As mentioned above, you should refer to the owner’s manual to make sure you are using the correct saw blade recommended by the manufacturer for replacement and that you are following the correct steps for your specific mitre saw.
The inner and outer rings of the saw blade can be drained with oil that lubricates the saw. Wipe the oil before reinstalling the knife. Place a knife over the notch above the inner ring.
It is important to install the knife correctly as working with an incorrectly installed knife can cause serious injury as it can fail. Reinstall the outer ring. Pull it with your finger. Turn the screw anticlockwise with an Allen key. Tighten the lock to hold the blade in place. However, do not try to turn the screws too far. They should be tightened securely and not too tightly. Replace the saw blade protector on the circular saw with a screwdriver to tighten it.
