Mitre saw blades are available in different price lists, each with its own characteristics, number of teeth and size. If you choose the wrong saw blade, you will have problems with it. There are also different brands and models of saw blades on the market, as well as a variety of new and used saw blades.

In view of the above, there are many factors to take into account when choosing a blade for your shrub saw. Here are some factors to consider:

Diameter of your mitropila

Each saw has a specific saw blade size to be used. If you use the wrong cut on your saw, you will certainly have a problem cutting with the saw. It is therefore important to read the owner’s manual of the mitre saw for the recommended cut.

The mitre saws are available in 4 standard sizes: 7-1/2 inch, 8-1/2 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch. If you have a 12-inch saw, you cannot use saw blades other than the 12-inch saw blades. Knives of different sizes do not fully adapt to the cutting edge of the tool and may not fit properly into the knife grooves.

Most band saws have built-in protection against the use of saw blades with wrong dimensions. The round groove in the middle of the saw blade normally has a different size for each saw blade. This means that the 10-inch plate does not fit well in the groove provided for 12-inch plates. If you buy the wrong knife, unfortunately you are wasting money and you cannot use the tool at all ;p/.p

Leaf allocation

Another important point to take into account when choosing the right blade for your shrub saw is its intended use. In other words, you have to think about the kind of material you’re going to cut with a curved saw.

There are special blades designed for cutting certain types of materials, as well as multipurpose blades. Before starting new projects, you should generally make sure that the knife you have purchased is designed or intended for the material to be processed. The plates are marked by the manufacturers according to their different configurations.

Since most saws can be easily changed between saw blades, you need not be afraid to buy different types if you have multiple projects that require flexibility. It’s better than relying on the same knife for all kinds of equipment and hoping it works for you!

Sheet specification

Leaf design

The knives are available with different specifications. Some types of saw blades are designed for use in different types of saws, such as face saws, table saws and radial saws. If a particular type of saw blade is manufactured exclusively for your saw, this is indicated in the owner’s manual and you should not attempt to use a different type of saw blade. Although the saw manufacturer may mention certain types of saw blades, he may also mention that you can use general-purpose saw blades. It all depends on the brand of your saw.

Mitre saw blades have 2 general characteristics that have to be taken into account:

1. Number of teeth

The number of teeth on the saw blade is important because it determines how efficiently the saw blade will cut. If you want a smoother finish and cleaner cuts, ask for a knife with more teeth. If you cut thicker materials, a knife with fewer teeth is the best solution. If you want to cut plastic with a mitre saw, the saw blade should have as many teeth as necessary so that the plastic does not melt, as too many teeth can melt the plastic.

Remember that the larger the leaf, the higher the average number of teeth. While a 12-inch blade needs 80-100 teeth for a finer finish, an 8-1/2-inch blade needs only about 60+ for a smooth finish.

2. Toothpattern

When it comes to the design of woven locking systems, experts and manufacturers do not agree on the right option. There are several recommendations, some of which are contradictory. It is possible to use two different models for a specific type of work. Here you will find different versions of saw blades for snowmobiles:

  • Gringo flat point (FTG)
  • Nested upper cone (ATB)
  • Three-chip grinding (TCG)
  • variable top (ATAF)
  • ATB w/Raker (ATBR)
  • the upper chamfer alternately high or low (HATB).

These types are largely based on the shape of the teeth of the leaf. You will see that some saw blades have simple triangular teeth with a slight positive or negative tilt (teeth that tilt forward or backward), while others have very complicated teeth. For most wood projects, the simpler teeth are quite effective and easier to maintain and grind.
